Certificate and private key file problems  Tags: my server.
For other Googlers who have problems enabling HTTPS on their Apache server (or any server I guess), this post.

Blocking someone on Windows Live  Tags: chat.
It's impossible.

Do you remember the good old days when people were trying to scare each other to death about accepting people you don't know on MSN? Like everyone on the internet is hunting little children?
I never got their point, you could block people... right?

Well, not anymore!
I've tried desperately for at least two hours total now to block someone on the Windows Live Messenger client who is not even in my contact list, nor has ever been. If I remember correctly, it used to be a setting whether people could send you messages without being in your list.
10 things Paul Irish learned from the jQuery source  Tags: webdevelopment, programming.
I got very annoyed by the arrogance of Mr. jQuery Board Member which some people seem to love... I thought I would get a great talk about 10 awesome things jQuery does that hardly anyone knows about. Instead this is an hour-long video full of 'stuff's and 'awesome's with like 0.1% content.

This post will be telling you all useful stuff he said, only without pretending every word that I say is awesome just because I said it.
Cookies!  Tags: my blog, webdevelopment.
In the light of the new Dutch and European cookie laws, let me inform you about the cookie policy here.

I keep track of users via Statcounter. I think it's the largest statistics counter after Google Analytics (which I avoid for your privacy's sake and because Statcounter publishes global stats), so I think I can trust your data to them. I cannot control which cookies they set and for what purpose.

Finding a song by its lyrics: Play By Lyrics .com  Tags: websites, webdevelopment, music.
Most readers of this blog will know how you can find a song by its lyrics: You just google the lyrics you remember plus the word "lyrics" itself, and it will often come up with the song you want. Then you copy (or type) the artist and song name over to Grooveshark or Youtube, and you can listen to it.

I'm having this quite a lot lately, knowing the lyrics but not the song name, and the process of putting it to play seemed a bit double work. First googling, then on youtube, then clicking the result... So I decided to take action :)
Play By Lyrics.com is the result!
