There are two more very interresting things I read about AI lately. One of them is the Paperclip maximizer. On the Wiki page of LessWrong
, it quotes Eliezer Yudkowsky, who brilliantly summarized it:
The AI does not hate you, nor does it love you, but you are made out of atoms which it can use for something else.

I read about the AIBox experiment by Eliezer Yudkowsky a while ago and was intrigued by it. For the ones who don't know the experiment, you can read all about it on yudkowsky.net/singularity/aibox
. In summary, it comes down to this:
An AI has (been) developed and has mental capabilities beyond ours. The only way to communicate with it is via a text-only terminal (e.g. IRC), and a human called the Gatekeeper is chatting with the AI.
